Teddy

Meet Teddy 🧸

Can you believe that this big fluffy boy was picked up as a stray and remained unclaimed. 😔

He is a long haired Shar-Pei and is estimated to be around 2 years old.

When he arrived with us, it was immediately clear that he had issues with his eyes that were caused by entropion. 😥

Entropion is a painful condition where the eyelids roll inwards, causing the eyelashes and fur to rub the eye’s surface, which of course is incredibly painful and irritating.  Left untreated, entropion causes severe discomfort and can lead to infections and ulcers potentially leaving scarring on the eye.  Breeds like the Shar-Pei are more prone to this condition due to their excess amount of skin on their face.

The only permanent solution for entropion is surgery and after Teddy had served his 7 days in the stray kennels, he was signed over to our care and we got his operated on straight away to try and out an end to this poor boys discomfort. 💕

Teddy coped with his surgery incredibly well and his eyes are already looking much better and are far more comfortable for him.  It will take a few weeks for his eyes to heal fully and until then he will be having medication and eye drops three times a day.

Now Teddy that is on his way to a brighter, pain free future (that he can now actually see) we are starting to look for a new home for this handsome teddy bear. 💛

Teddy has been friendly with everyone he has met so far whilst being in our care and he absolutely loves chin rubs! 🥰

Because of his unknown background, we are unable to place his with young children but older children 12 years and upwards would be considered. 🐶

We are still currently assessing his suitability to live with other dogs and we are open to meet and greets with other dogs at this stage.

He is untested with cats.

We would ideally be looking for a home with previous experience of Shar-Pei’s, although this is not essential.  It just might help to know the quirks of the breed!

If you are interested in our Teddy boy then please call us any day on 01430 423986 between 11am – 2pm. 💛
