Cat Policies

Our Policies.

Our general re-homing area is Hull and East Riding. Occasionally, in exceptional circumstances we may extend those boundaries.

Cats.

We have cats for adoption of varying ages at the centre. In the kitten season we are inundated with little ones.

We have a minimum donation for our cats and the donation for pedigrees varies according to age and breed. The cost includes neutering (including kittens at 6 months) ID chipping, worming, fleaing, first years vaccinations and fiv/felv testing.

Anyone wishing to adopt one of our cats will be required to fill in a form and will be veterinary checked and/or have a home visit. Only upon a favourable check can the chosen cat be reserved. The cat to be collected at a time agreeable to both parties.

Once in their new homes adult cats are expected to be kept inside for a minimum of six weeks. Kittens should be kept indoors until they are old enough to be neutered.

We regard all our animals to be a responsibility for life! However should you have problems with your adopted cat we are always on hand for help and advice.

Should your circumstances change and you are no longer able to keep your cat we insist that it be returned to us as we feel once we have taken responsibility for an animal it remains so for the rest of its life.

Please note, the viewing of our cats is by appointment only.  Appointments can be made by telephone.

Adopt a cat

Cat Adoption Fees.

When you adopt an animal from Hull Animal Welfare Trust it will be vaccinated and neutered. When you buy an animal from a pet shop, breeder or perhaps through an advertisement in a paper, on top of the purchase price, you will then need to pay for the animal to be vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Our current adoption fees

  • Kittens £120
  • Cats over 6 months £100
  • Pedigree £120+

Typical costs for vaccinations

  • Cat
  • £64

Typical costs for neutering

  • Cat (female)
  • £60
  • Cat (male)
  • £34

You will see that our adoption fees, in most cases, are less than the cost of neutering and vaccinating the animal. Our goal is to ensure that all the animals are adopted into suitable, loving homes, are protected from common viruses and neutered so that they do not go on to add to the problem of unwanted animals.

NB. If the animal you adopt is too young to be neutered / ID chipped, this will be arranged when it reaches a suitable age and will be funded by Hull Animal Welfare Trust.
